About Who is Single?
What is Who is Single??
Who is Single? helps verified adults discover other opted-in single people who are physically nearby.
You only appear to other people when you have chosen to be discoverable, and only ever as a general proximity — never as a precise location.
How is Who is Single? different from other dating apps?
Discovery is built around real-world proximity and active Single Signals rather than endless swiping through people you will never be in the same room as.
The question the app answers is simple: who around me right now is single and open to being approached?
Is Who is Single? a dating app?
Who is Single? is a connection and discovery platform. It is designed to help you identify other verified singles around you and make a mutual connection — what happens next is up to you both.
Single Signal
What is Single Signal?
Single Signal is your switch for being discoverable. On means eligible members nearby can find you. Off means you are invisible to discovery.
When should I turn my Single Signal on?
Whenever you are out and would be happy for someone nearby to say hi — a café, a gym, a bar, an event, a festival, a campus.
Can I turn it off at any time?
Yes, instantly and for free. You can also set it to expire automatically after a chosen length of time.
Can someone see my exact location?
No. Other members never see coordinates, an address, a map pin or an exact distance. They only see a general proximity category.
How long does my Single Signal stay active?
For as long as you choose when you switch it on, or until you turn it off. It also switches off automatically if your account stops being eligible for discovery.
Verification
Why do I need to verify my identity?
Because everyone else has. Verification is what makes it reasonable to discover strangers nearby, and it keeps under-18s and fake profiles out.
Which ID documents can I use?
A passport or a driving licence, subject to the documents and countries supported by our verification provider.
Why do I need a face check?
A short liveness check confirms that the person holding the document is the person creating the account.
Can other users see my ID?
No. Your identity document and your face check are never shown to other members and never appear in your profile.
Is Who is Single? only for over 18s?
Yes. Who is Single? is strictly 18+ and age is confirmed during verification.
Nearby
How does Nearby work?
When your Single Signal is on and your location is fresh, Nearby shows other verified members who are also discoverable and close to you right now.
What does Very Close mean?
You are within roughly the same space — think the same venue or street.
What does Nearby mean?
You are a short distance apart, typically a few minutes' walk.
Why can't I see an exact distance?
This is deliberately restricted. An exact distance can be used to work out where somebody is, so we never show one.
Why can't I see anyone nearby?
Usually one of these:
Nobody around you currently has their Single Signal active; your own Single Signal is off; discovery is paused; location permission is off or your location is stale; or your discovery filters are narrow.
Say Hi
What happens when I Say Hi?
The other person is told that you said Hi. They can Say Hi Back, which creates a mutual connection, or decline.
Can someone message me without me agreeing?
No. Messaging only opens after you have both said Hi.
What happens if I don't want to Say Hi Back?
Nothing happens. The request quietly ends, and you can block or report at any time if you want to.
Free & premium
Can I use Who is Single? for free?
Yes. Free members can see verified singles nearby, view basic profile information, Say Hi, receive Say Hi requests, make mutual connections and send one introductory message per connection.
What does Who is Single?+ unlock?
Unlimited conversations with your connections, full profiles and all photos, advanced discovery filters, extended Crossed Paths, a wider discovery radius, Incognito Mode and Travel Mode.
What does VIP include?
Everything in the paid tier plus profile boosts, priority visibility among members already eligible to discover you, profile insights and enhanced Travel Mode.
Why can't I see someone's complete profile?
Full profiles are a premium feature. Free members see the main photo, first name, age, verification, proximity, relationship status, occupation if shared, country, two interests and what they're looking for.
Why has my conversation stopped after my free message?
Free membership includes one introductory message per connection. Your connection and conversation stay exactly where they are — upgrading reopens the conversation.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings, then Membership, then manage your subscription. You keep paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Safety
How do I block someone?
Open the menu on their card or profile and choose Block. Blocking is free and immediate.
How do I report someone?
Use the same menu and choose Report, then pick the category that fits. Reporting is free.
What should I do if I think someone is under 18?
Report them straight away using the under-18 category. These reports are treated as high priority.
What should I do if someone asks me for money?
Do not send anything. Report them using the scam or financial category and block them.
Does verification mean someone is completely safe?
No. Verification provides additional identity assurance — it confirms identity checks were completed.
It does not guarantee another person's intentions or behaviour. Always meet in public and tell someone where you are going.
Account
How do I edit my profile?
Open the Profile tab. You can change your photos, bio, interests, prompts and lifestyle details there.
How do I pause discovery?
Settings, then Location & discovery, then pause discovery. Your profile stays intact while you are paused.
How do I delete my account?
Settings, then the account section, then delete your account. This is free and takes effect immediately.
How do I change my location permissions?
Location permission is controlled by your device or browser settings. You can withdraw it at any time; discovery will simply stop working.
