Terms & Conditions
The agreement between you and Who is Single? when you use the app.
Draft wording. This document should be reviewed by a qualified legal professional before public launch.
Introduction
Who is Single? is a proximity-based discovery service. It helps verified adults who have deliberately opted in to discover other verified adults nearby who are also open to being approached.
These Terms explain what you can expect from us and what we expect from you.
Acceptance of the Terms
By creating an account or using Who is Single?, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Cookie Policy and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Who may use Who is Single?
You may use the service only if you can form a binding contract with us, you are not barred from using it under applicable law, and you complete our verification process.
Strict 18+ requirement
Who is Single? is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. There are no exceptions.
If we believe an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove access.
Account registration
You must provide accurate registration details, keep your login credentials secure, and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
You may hold one account. Accounts are personal to you and may not be transferred or sold.
Mandatory identity verification
Discovery features are unavailable until verification is complete. Verification covers your age, your identity document and a face check.
Passport or driving licence verification
You may be asked to present a passport or driving licence to a third-party verification provider. Supported documents and countries depend on that provider.
Face / liveness verification
A short face check helps confirm that the person holding the document is the person creating the account. Other members never see your document or your face-check images.
Accurate profile information
Your profile must describe you truthfully, and your photographs must be of you.
Relationship status information
You are responsible for the relationship status you publish. Members whose status indicates they are not available cannot activate their Single Signal.
We do not and cannot independently confirm anyone's relationship status as a matter of legal fact.
User responsibilities
You are responsible for how you behave in the app and in person, for the information you choose to share, and for your own safety when meeting anyone.
Single Signal
Single Signal controls whether other eligible members can discover you. When it is off you are not discoverable. You can switch it off at any time, and you can set it to expire automatically.
Location-based discovery
Discovery uses your device location while you are using discovery features. You may withdraw location permission at any time through your device settings, which will stop discovery working.
Approximate location
Other members never see your coordinates, your address, a map pin or an exact distance. They see general proximity categories only.
Crossed Paths
Crossed Paths shows that you and another opted-in member were in the same general area while you were both discoverable. It never reveals where or precisely when.
Single Spots
Single Spots are public venues where verified members can voluntarily check in. Checking in is always your choice and check-ins expire automatically.
Say Hi
Say Hi is a lightweight way to express initial interest. Nobody is obliged to respond.
Connections
A connection is created only when both members have said Hi to each other.
Messaging
Messaging is available after a mutual connection. Free members can send one introductory message per connection; continuing the conversation requires a paid membership.
Free membership
Free membership includes verification, profile creation, Single Signal, discovery of nearby verified singles, limited profile information, Say Hi, mutual connections and one introductory message per connection.
Who is Single?+ membership
Paid membership adds unlimited conversations with your connections, full profile access, advanced discovery filters, extended Crossed Paths, a wider discovery radius, Incognito Mode and Travel Mode.
Who is Single? VIP membership
VIP includes everything in the paid tier plus profile boosts, priority visibility among members who are already eligible to discover you, profile insights and enhanced Travel Mode.
VIP never overrides blocking, verification, age restrictions, another member's discovery preferences, location eligibility, suspensions or bans.
Subscription payments
Payments are processed by our payment provider. We never receive or store your raw card details.
Subscription renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
Cancellation
You can cancel at any time from Membership settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; your paid features remain available until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Your profile, connections and existing conversations are not deleted when you cancel. Free limits simply apply again.
Refunds where legally applicable
Where consumer law in your country gives you a right to a refund, that right applies. Contact us and we will deal with your request in line with the law.
Acceptable behaviour
Treat other members the way you would want to be treated in person. Respect boundaries and respect rejection.
Prohibited behaviour
- • Fake profiles
- • Impersonating another person
- • Harassment or repeated unwanted contact
- • Threatening behaviour
- • Stalking or attempting to determine someone's exact position
- • Fraud and scams
- • Requesting money from other members
- • Sexual misconduct, including unsolicited explicit content
- • Any account or content involving a person under 18
Content standards
Your bio, prompts and photographs must be lawful, must be your own, and must not contain another person's private information.
Profile photographs
Photographs must show you clearly, must not be sexually explicit, and must not include children.
Blocking
You can block any member at any time. Blocking is free and immediately removes existing requests and connections between you.
Reporting
You can report any member at any time. Reporting is free. Reports involving safety, threats or suspected under-18 accounts are prioritised.
Suspension
We may suspend an account while we investigate a report, or where we believe these Terms have been broken.
Account termination
We may permanently remove an account for serious or repeated breaches. Paid members are held to exactly the same standards as free members.
User-generated content
You keep ownership of the content you post. You grant us a limited licence to host and display it so the service can operate.
Intellectual property
The Who is Single? name, logo, design and software are owned by us and may not be copied or used without permission.
Service availability
We aim to keep the service running reliably but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
Changes to the service
Features may change, improve or be withdrawn over time.
Account deletion
You can delete your account from Settings at any time. Deletion removes your profile from discovery and ends your interactions.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the conduct of other members, whether online or in person.
Who is Single? does not guarantee that another member is romantically compatible with you, that anyone will respond to you, that anyone will meet you, that a member's relationship status has been independently legally confirmed, or that any interaction will be safe. Verification confirms that identity checks were completed. It is not a statement about a person's intentions, character or future behaviour.
Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant we will make it clear in the app.
